Alicante, 120km from Finca Casablanca, is a large, bustling Spanish city with excellent beaches and a fine promenade adjacent to the international marina. Frequently overlooked by the millions of tourists who pass through its airport each year on their way to other Costa Blanca resorts, the city has managed to retain much of its Spanish atmosphere and can be a rewarding place to spend a couple of days. It also offers ferries to North Africa, boat trips to Isla Tabarca, and good mainline rail links to Madrid, and Valencia (via Xátiva). There is a local train service north up the coast as far as Denia, and both local and long distance bus services.
